This series (of five different works) was inspired by the Global Financial Crisis and concern about the potential impact on New Zealand of the international issues playing out at the time. The Kiwi (taken from an earlier museum drawing) stands on the precipice with a shadow of itself beside. The unique trial proofs of the series, of which this is the last available, featured an apocalyptic burnt orange sky; the limited edition series that followed used a blue aquatint instead.
