Martin de Ruyter was taught ‘Trench Art’ by his great-grandfather. Anzac soldiers in WWI, between battles, would make art and jewellery from whatever lay in the trenches, including pieces made from old bullet casings. De Ruyter has made poppies in the Anzac colours (black and red) and now extends that to highlight his concern at the issues of the war in Ukraine.
